Hey Guys, ECARO is back in full swing, with weekly meetings from 6 PM to 7 PM every Monday, in Shaffer 016. This semester we're looking to get more people involved in the club, and to do that we are holding tutorials and hopefully soon a game tournament. We'll also have a representative from Career Services stop by to have a resume and job search info session. Coming up: Monday, February 7, 6 PM After Effects Basics Tutorial - Ryan Johnson -Come in with specific questions or with nothing, but come! More events to be announced Cheers, T Lee D |

Hi All!
The past two meetings in ECARO we've been having some awesome tutorials! On September 30th, Kelsey gave a basic web tutorial, which was super informative! If you're interested in learning some basic web design but were unable to come to the tutorial, the files for it are on the CAR server under courses > ECARO. Feel free to check them out! Today, October 7th, Justin gave us a basic Final Cut tutorial which was also quite helpful!
A couple other notes: Steve has volunteered to give us a MaxMSP tutorial. The date hasn't been set yet, but please look forward to that! We're also working on planning a tutorial or a series of tutorials on more detailed Photoshop concepts. These tutorials may be more hands on, as three of our grad students, Brett, Ryan, and Steve, are all skilled in different areas of Photoshop. More info on those soon!
There are also a couple more programs that we've added to the list of tutorials we'd like to give:
- DVD StudioPro/Encore
- Lightwave
- Logic
Also, keep an eye on our events! Students at the architecture school have begun scheduling tutorials also, the first of which will be on 3DSMax. The 3DSMax tutorial will be on Tuesday, October 20t at 7pm in the Slocum computer lab. There will also be a RealFlow Tutorial on October 27th at 7p in the Slocum comptuer lab. All are welcome to attend!

Welcome back to Syracuse, everyone! :D This semester ECARO has begun its meetings focusing on two things in particular: tutorials and critiques! We're also looking into holding a game tournament, bringing in speakers, and perhaps working together on a group project. Woot!
One thing that ECARO has really been focusing on this and last semester are critiques. We've had a bunch of critiques already and they've been super productive! :) If you're looking to have any of your work looked at by our group, please feel free to bring something to our meetings, or sign up to have your stuff critiqued next week! Unfinished work is welcome and encouraged too!
Our tutorials this semester will be very open; anyone can suggest a software program that they'd like to know more about, or hold a tutorial of their own. We'll do our best to accommodate as many tutorials as possible! Here's a current list we've started of software we'd like to have tutorials on:
- Web Design: Kelsey, Wednesday September 30th
- Maya
- MaxMSP
- Illustrator
- Flash
- Final Cut
- After Effects
- Photoshop
We've also been informed about some software tutorials being held by students of the architecture school! So nice of them to share their knowledge with us! We'll let you know as soon as the dates are set for those!
We're also looking into holding a game tournament! We've just begun plans for this, though, so we'll let you know more as we go.
Lastly, some people have expressed interest in working on a group project. One suggestion was to create a game for a competition currently happening on 'Zero Punctuation'. We don't know much about it right now, but if you're interested, please come to our meeting this Wednesday at 6 in Shaffer 016! See you all then! |

Hi again everyone! Just a couple of notes from this week's meeting:
- Next week, Kelsey will be giving us a tutorial on basic web design! So that will be on Wednesday, Septmeber 30th at 6pm, in room 018 Shaffer! Come by if you're interested!
- Also, Justin has volunteered to give a basic Final Cut tutorial, which will be on October 7th!
Please check out the "Upcoming Events" in the left panel of the website for updated information on (what else) our events! We'll also be working on making a calendar and other things for the bulletin board outside of 016/018 Shaffer.
